Blepharo—- what? The Basics Behind Blepharoplasty
- Posted on: Nov 30 2017
Ah, what it would be like to drink out of The Fountain of Youth again. Unfortunately, as we age, we start to lose volume and elasticity in our skin which leaves us looking and feeling a bit older than we care to admit. As one of the most common places that people start to notice signs of aging, the skin around your upper and lower eyelids can start to droop, which can make your self-esteem plummet. Luckily, Dr. Richard Palu offers patients a variety of treatments including a blepharoplasty to help correct this problem and get you on the road toward feeling like a more youthful, confident you.
What’s a Blepharoplasty?
An eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty involves removing excess skin from around the upper eyelids (Upper blepharoplasty) or lower eyelids (lower blepharoplasty). By removing excess tissue and skin, a blepharoplasty can make you feel like your twenty-year-old self after just a week or two of recovery. By making small incisions along the creases of your eyes, patients should have minimal scarring or visibility of scarring after surgery.
Although a blepharoplasty is primarily done for cosmetic reasons, there are some instances in which patients are unable to see clearly because of too much excess skin which makes surgery more medical based than anything.
During your initial consultation with Dr. Richard Palu, he will determine whether you need to have an upper blepharoplasty, a lower blepharoplasty, or a combination of the two. Additionally, depending on the severity of your condition, Dr. Richard Palu may also recommend the use of fillers or Botox around your eyelids to add more volume.
Aging doesn’t have to be a painful experience. In fact, with the help of Dr. Richard Palu, you can age gracefully and feel more confident in the process. Schedule your blepharoplasty consultation at one of our offices today!
